Badminton Silver
Team Hambridge celebrated a silver medal at the Somerset School Games Finals at Millfield.
The team were narrowly beaten in to second by Wiveliscombe.
Badminton coach Mr Francombe was proud of his teams efforts. Having finished first and second at the South Somerset finals, Hambridge were represented by two teams. The A team, made up of year 6 pupils, performed amazingly well to finish second and collect the silver medal. The B team squad included a number of year four pupils who stepped up to represent Team Hambridge, due to the competition clashing with the Indoor Athletics final, proving the talent runs deep at Hambridge.

Year 6 Boys Football Team fall short at YTFC Tournament
The Year 6 boys football team finished runners up in the recent Yeovil Town Football League Schools tournament.
The event held at Huish Park, Yeovil on Friday 16th October, 2015 saw two teams from Hambridge take part further underlining the strength in depth at the school. Unfortunately, Hambridge B were unable to get out their group with Hambridge A qualifying for the knock out stages.
However the A side were taken to a nail biting sudden death penalty shoot out in their Semi Final against Wyke. Indeed they were indebted to goalkeeper Joe who made the all important save after Tom had given Hambridge the advantage.
Unfortunately Hambridge's efforts were undone as they came up against a strong Selwood Academy side who went on to win the tournament.
The final result shouldn't detract from an excellent day's football. Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to Mr Francombe and Mr Akers for their help in organising the day.

Blue House take KS2 Girls House Football Competition
The 2nd of October to
the 9th of October was international girl’s football week at
Hambridge School. We already have a successful girls football club so we
decided to play an inter-house girls football tournament. The first matches
were Blue vs Red and Green vs Yellow for KS2.
In the Blue vs Red match there
was a lot of throw ins and goal kicks. But Blue advanced to the finals after
beating red 6-0. In the Green vs Yellow match
there was a lot of goal kicks and saves but it was the Greens that
advanced into the finals against Blue with a 4-1 win. It was great!
These results mean that Reds
played Yellow for 3rd and 4th position. Blue then played Green
for 1st and 2nd.
In the Blue vs Green match Erin got
slide tackled twice by Jess the goal keeper and Lily! But she was okay. Despite
a gutsy performance by Greens, the Blues proved to be too strong and took the
title with a 4-1 win! We shook hands and congratulated each other. In the game between
Yellow vs Red, Red won 4-0 letting them take 3rd place and with Yellow
finishing 4th.
Thank you, girls for taking part
you played amazingly, well done. Also thank you to our referees Mr Thompson and
Mr Francombe. Thank you to Mrs Mckay for organising this great event and a
massive thank you for coaching us.

Hambridge Humbled by High Ham
Hambridge Year 6 Football team were humbled in their second league game of the season at home to High Ham.
Having beaten King Ina in their opening fixture Hambridge were full of confidence however they were facing an up hill battle from the very start as High Ham rushed into a 4-0 lead. Tom pulled one back after good work by Finlay put him in one v one with the keeper but High Ham hit straight back to take a 5-1 lead at half time.
The second half saw a fight back as a more resilient Hambridge emerged. Tom once again took the lead grabbing two quick goals to complete a hat trick and reduced the deficit to 5-3. With the pressure building on the High Ham goal Hambridge couldn't find away through and High Ham pounced on the break to seal the win with a sixth goal.
Hambridge will look to bounce back when they travel to Curry Rivel on Monday.

Football Report Hambridge V King Ina Thursday 1st October, 2015
On Thursday 1st of October 2015
Hambridge took on King Ina In their first league football match of the season.
King Ina dominated the opening four minutes with shots coming in from every
direction. Luckily Joel in the Hambridge goal was equal to everything they
threw at him. In the fifth minute however King Ina’s pressure paid off and they
duly took the lead. Hambridge took the centre and within seconds Finlay crossed to Tom who scooped the ball round with his left foot and past the
helpless keeper to equalise.1-1. King Ina took the centre and Hambridge won
possession back quickly. The busy Joe produced a fine through ball to
Freddie who saw his shot juggled by the keeper allowing Freddie the chance to
score. Goal! 2-1 Hambridge. King Ina came back. Suddenly, the ball flew into
the air. Smack! Faulkner was down and was forced off due to clash of heads.
Oliver came on as Finlay came off holding his head in pain. But as soon as Oliver had entered King Ina caught Hambridge on the break and scored. 2-2. Come on
Hambridge. Hambridge weren’t giving up though. Wild got the ball and dribbled
to the edge of the box where he found Joe who coolly scored to put
Hambridge back in front. 3-2 to Hambridge.
The
whistle blew for the start of the second half. King Ina took the centre and
within minutes they scored. 3-3. Hambridge kept on pushing but couldn’t get a
goal back for 15 minutes. It was so tiring but we knew we could win it.
Suddenly, Freddie was on the ball he passed it to Tom who nutmegged one and
then Maradonna’d the second and scored. 4-3. Hambridge were in the lead. But
King Ina were right back on the attack with a period of sustained pressure and
a number of corners, Hambridge were having to dig deep. With seconds remaining
a King Ina corner landed at the feet of Robinson who passed it to Trickey. His
instinctive pass found Finlay in space. Out numbering the King Ina defence three
one Finlay took the shot and scored. 5-3. The final whistle went Hambridge
had done it. The man of the match was Henry for his excellent leadership at the
back and for some timely interventions..
What a start to the season. Hopefully,
Hambridge can carry on this form.

Cross Country Success
Wow! Was how one parent has described the first cross country event of the school year. Out of 86 pupils in Key Stage two, forty of them pulled on the green and white of Hambridge to run. You must admit this is fantastic for a school of our size.
Despite the testing conditions every one of the Hambridge team performed brilliantly.
Congratulations to William who finished 1st in the Year 3/4 Boys race. There was also top three finishes for Erin and Joe both recorded 2nd place in their respective Year 5/6 races.

The Hambridge School Tag Rugby Team performed admirably at the Sainsbury's School Games Tag Rugby Finals. Hambridge originally entered two sides into the competitive Huish CLP event with the A team being knowcked out in the Semi Finals and the B Team reaching the final. In doing so they automatically qualified for the Sainsbury's School Games Finals.
Unfortunately the young B team (Made up of Year 4 and 5 children) were unable to reproduce the performances that had seen them make the finals day. They did however produce some gutsy displays against teams made up of older children. The future is bright for Tag Rugby at Hambridge.
