Rugby Team show Heart at School Games Final

The Hambridge School Tag Rugby Team performed admirably at the Sainsbury's School Games Tag Rugby Finals. Hambridge originally entered two sides into the competitive Huish CLP event with the A team being knowcked out in the Semi Finals and the B Team reaching the final. In doing so they automatically qualified for the Sainsbury's School Games Finals.

Unfortunately the young B team (Made up of Year 4 and 5  children) were unable to reproduce the performances that had seen them make the finals day. They did however produce some gutsy displays against teams made up of older children. The future is bright for Tag Rugby at Hambridge.

KS2 Cricket Club Enjoy Brilliant Afternoon

Our KS2 Cricket Club enjoyed a brilliant afternoons cricket as they represented the Langport CLP in the Sainsbury's School Games South Somerset Tournament.

Having finished second to King Ina in the CLP tournament Hambridge went to Chard Cricket Club full of enthusiasm and confidence. Unfortunately the team were knocked out in the group stages managing one win and two defeats. However with the majority of the team being Year 5 the experience of playing high quality tournament cricket can only benefit.

Hambridge were represented at this summers Sainsbury's school games as the Year 3/4 quad kids team won through to the county wide spectacular. The young athletes competed across 4 athletic disciplines finishing 7 overall. There some excellent individual performances especially from Jack Morgan in the boys throwing event and Benjamin Clapp in the boys' jumping event.

Close Call for Hambridge Primary School Badminton Club

Hambridge KS2 Badminton Club came third in the 2014/2015 Somerset Schools County Championships at Millfield after winning throught The previous three rounds. The squad of four made up of boys from Year 5 and 6 played strongly and at one time look likely to win. This strong ranking came only six months after the school set up its Badminton club, with particular support from Mr Francombe. The club runs twice a week and is open to all children across the school.

The club took part in a training session at the centre of excellence before having a tour of the ground. During the tour the players visited the home dressing room and met Somerset Batsman Tom Cooper and New Zealand wicket keeper Luke Ronchi.
