Tag Rugby - South Somerset Area Finals
Tuesday proved to be a busy day for everyone at Hambridge. The cornet club were playing in Frome, the chior were singing in Yeovil and the tag rugby team visited Castle Cary to take part in the South Somerset Area Finals.
Unfortunately a young and inexperienced Hambridge side were unable to defend their title. They went out of the competition in the group stages although they played some really good rugby.
Playing five games in the group stages the teams record was played 5 Won 1 Drawn 2 Lost 2 meaning they narrowly missed out on a semi final spot.
The team showed great togetherness and were extremely competitive throughout the competition.
Well played Team.

Hambridge go the extra mile for Sports Relief
Hambridge School raised over a £100 pounds for Sports Relief through every child running a mile in aid of the charity event.
The run was combined with the annual House Cross Country event with every child in the school taking part.
After the mile run selected teams from each class attempted to break the four minute mile with a relay race around the school field.
The Class 5 boys recorded the quickest time of 4 mins 17 seconds. Another attempt at the record will be made at the School Sports Day in July.

The race of averages
Class 5 have been looking at finding the mean average.
This took them on to the playground to play 'The race of Averages'
Five teams compete in a relay to collect as many items as the y can in two minutes. At the end of the two minutes the teams count up how many items they have collected. They are then given an amount for each item eg footballs = 10 points, shuttlecocks = 8. Children work out the total points collected then the average points. The team with the highest average points wins.
